Indemnity plans pay first dollar coverage. Meaning, there is no deductible or copay with most carriers. The insurance carrier pays first, and you pay nothing unless they do not pay the entire bill. There are deductibles on some plans but only for hospitalization at this time. They are all PPO plans so finding doctors in any state is easy. These plans are also great to supplement STMs or ACA Plans.
Short Term Medical Plans have set terms from 3 months to 36 months. These plans are similar to traditional major medical plans in that they have deductibles, co-insurance and in most cases, copays as well. These are also a viable option to Obamacare. However, they do terminate at the end of the term. Meaning, you have to re-apply for coverage at the end of the term.
Health Share Ministries have become quite popular for individuals and families that want an alternative to insurance in general. They all have MSRAs which stands for "Minimum Sharing Responsibility Amount." These MSRAs resemble deductibles on a health insurance plan. These plans pay claims based on member participation. These plans are not insurance plans.
Affordable Care Act Plans (ACA Plans) are household names such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Ambetter, Anthem, etc. which are major medical plans that are based on TOTAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME. If the income along with total number of dependents meets the criteria to qualify for a "subsidy" also known as a "tax credit" your premiums may be substantially less or possibly $0 per month.
